Toronto - The art gallery of Ontario (AGO)

Founded in 1900 as the Art Museum of Toronto, the AGO is one of the largest art museums on the whole of the North American continent.

Its collection boasts thousands of works from the last 2000 years including an extensive collection of Canadian art that makes up half of the exhibits. The AGO houses the two largest public collections of British sculptor Henry Moore and numerous other European greats are on show from Van Gogh through to Andy Warhol.

The AGO is currently closed to the public for renovation work. A date for reopening hasn’t yet been decided but is tentatively scheduled for autumn 2008.
