Toronto - Toronto Old City Hall The old home to the city council is one of Toronto’s most prominent structures and was the tallest building in the city when it was opened in 1899. When the council moved to a new city hall in 1966 there were plans to demolish the old building but public outcry was strong enough to cause the powers that be to abandon the idea. The Old City Hall is now used as a court building and has been declared a National Historic Site. http://www.toronto.ca/old_cityhall/index.htm
