Ottawa tourist information - Winterlude

This popular outdoor festival celebrates winter and includes musical concerts, plenty of activities for the kids (including a playground made of snow), skating displays, snow and ice sculpture competitions and many more attractions and things to do. The festival is an annual event that usually runs the first three weekends in February and has grown into one of Ottawa’s most important tourist attractions since its inception in 1979.

While visiting Winterlude don’t forget to try the traditional ‘Beaver Tail’ - fried dough snack that can be topped with sweet or savoury ingredients. The kids can also learn about the legend of the Ice Hogs – mysterious creatures that hibernate in summer and come out in Winter for the celebrations.
