Montreal - Montreal Casino Famous for its unusual design both inside and out, the Montreal Casino boasts half a million square feet of gaming area across five floors, over 3000 slot machines and over 100 gaming tables. Built originally for Expo 67, the Casino is unlike almost any large casino you will ever visit. The three buildings that make up the casino have untraditional low ceilings and windows (yes, windows in a casino) in many places giving away the building’s original use as a Pavillion and exhibition centre. Games offered at the Casino include blackjack, baccarat and roulette, electronic Texas Hold ‘Em, a Royal Ascot electronic horse racing track and a keno lounge. High stakes lounges and tables are available for high rollers. Other facilities within the casino include several restaurants and bars providing a variety of dining options and places to drown your sorrows after a losing streak. The Cabaret du Casino is the venue for variety shows and music revues where guests can dine in style In 1994, Canadian student Daniel Corriveau managed to win $600,000 playing keno (a game similar to Bingo) at the Montreal Casino. He was able to pick 19 of the 20 winning numbers three times in a row. Corriveau claimed he used a computer and Chaos Theory to discern a pattern in the sequence of numbers. It was later discovered that the sequence was made easier to predict because the Casino was using an inadequate electronic number generator. In fact, the electronic keno machine was reset every morning with the same seed number, producing the same sequence of numbers every day. Corriveau received his winnings after investigators cleared him of any wrongdoing.
